The best way to reduce your Body Mass Index is to reduce the calories you eat/drink and be more physically active.

Diets and weight loss products are great for people initially beginning to lower their Body Mass Index, but for continued maintenance you should incorporate adjusting your caloric intake and participating in some type of physical activity.

 Some examples of continued maintenance are as follows:
  • Identifying the schedule and behaviors that developed over time that led you to consume more calories than your body can burn.
  • Making a plan to develop good eating habits
  • Begin some type of exercise program or fitness routine
  • Stick to your plan and goals by getting support and keeping a log of your daily routines.
People tend to binge eat or eat unhealthy (“sweet and tasty”) foods when they undergo stress, forming a bad habit. Find a simple alternative to your stress such as a short walk, yoga, or something that will lower your stress and steer you away from unhealthy eating. Once your new healthy behavior becomes a habit, mark it in your journal and develop another healthy goal.

Unhealthy Snacking - Learn how to stop!

Every day we wake up, grab a bite to eat, and tell ourselves that we will not give into temptation and eat an unhealthy snack between meals. Unhealthy snacking is should not be an option for any of us, especially when we are trying to diet and eat healthy meals.

But as the morning goes on you are running e rrands, working, or taking the kid’s somewhere. All of the sudden your stomach starts to grumble and that part of your brain that loves the bad habits start to remind you of a quick fix. That quick fix is unhealthy snacking.

You can last until lunch you tell yourself but your stomach has other ideas. You try and think of something else but your stomach keeps reminding your mind of unhealthy snacks, i.e. candy bars and cupcakes. You decide that you can no longer stand the hunger pains and you stop at the 1st convenience store or walk to the closest vending machine, not a single healthy snack around. You decide it’s time to eat anyways and tell yourself that you will avoid the unhealthy snacks next time. We have all been there; unhealthy snacking is a big problem day in, day out for the majority of us. On average, an average person spends $50  a month on unhealthy snacks.

There is hope, as there are ways to stop unhealthy snacking on the go and while at work. Below is the top ways to stop unhealthy snacking:
